One of these is Induction wall packs. These wall packs can last up to 100,000 hours of light output, with little or no maintenance and have a high CRI or color rendering feature. Induction wall packs are energy efficient and minimum lumen depreciation. There are numerous advantages of induction wall packs that make it suitable in a variety of locations and applications. Most of the places where these wallpacks lighting fixtures are a notch above the other include areas with high vibrations, difficult to access places and areas where energy efficiency and long tern durability is required.
Comparing the induction wall packs to LED light fixtures, in places where there is a requirement for high intensity discharge light, LEDs do not work as well as Induction wall packs. LED’s have only half the requirement of rated light and due to the sensitivity to extreme temperatures over time, the light output diminishes and the life decreases. Conversely, induction wall packs work well in areas with high heat as it has no impact on the induction wall packs working and with a well-designed wall pack or other light fixtures the impact on system life is virtually not there.
On one of the energy saving reports of the U.S Department of Energy, it was said that induction lighting is one of the best kept secrets of effective lighting solutions as it is basically fluorescent light without the filaments. It is these filaments or electrodes that cause the other lamps or bulbs to burn out quickly. Without these appendages, the induction wall packs have a longer life of nearly 100,000 hours which is nearly 25 years of 10 hours a day lighting output.
One of the best application of Induction lighting fixtures as a better selection can be seen in industrial manufacturing units when it comes to comparing with their light output devices. Induction wall packs have a higher reliability and output when lighting fixtures are required to be working 24/7 in high temperatures. The heat close to the ceiling reaches nearly 100 degrees or more, which does not suit most of the LED, metal halide, and mercury vapor and halogen lamps.
The disadvantage with other light fixtures and wall packs is that linear fluorescent high bay fixtures need clear reflectors which can dim in areas where there is heat and working with chemicals while LED cannot put out enough light under high ambient heat. High pressure sodium lights are effective but the color rendering is nearly 20 which most workers do not prefer in production areas.
