The metal halide, a traditional lamp has been in use for a long time but in recent years with new technological innovations has led to the better MH bulbs. Many technological features that have made metal halide bulbs more energy saving and quicker to switch on have led to better lighting fixtures.
Due to the high intensity beam of light, metal halide is the preferred choice in factories, warehouses and dockyards yard including commercial lighting for indoor and outdoor uses. Most of the range of traditional light bulbs generates heat but with the new pulse start technology, metal halide generates low amount of heat which makes it suitable for use as perimeter lighting and industrial lighting. These are also used as emergency lights and come with a battery backup as and when needed. The new pulse-start technology ensures that energy is not wasted while there is no chance of heat emission. This has enhanced the green energy outlook for the metal halide lamps.
One of the most publicized aspects of metal halide wallpacks feature characteristics that have the ability to give out different colored illumination as it helps workers work better in tasks, where color rendition is needed. With a high CRI of about 65, metal halide lights are best used in commercial applications than in indoor residential lighting.
Most of the people didn’t prefer metal halide lamps due to the toxic element and heat dissipation that marred its popularity. However, the new and innovative quartz-strike technology has led to the better and energy conservation MH lamps. But with the new lamps, metal halide wallpacks have become more effective, and when wired with sensors for motion detection or CCTV cameras, the instant the sensors are activated the lights go on instantly. Usually, the sensors are activated within a specific area and when there is any intrusion in that space activates the sensors. Usually used in commercial establishments that have multiple access points, illumination with a bright beam and long lasting lamps is needed.
Another application of the metal halide lamps is in lighting up the sports arenas, as the bright floodlights work well with metal halide lamps. The bright white light is perect to illuminate stadiums, gyms and fields.
