Loading... Please wait...LED wall packs are the commonly used lighting source in businesses, especially those in the field of manufacturing. For years they have been considered the holy grail of lighting and energy efficiency. As commonly occurs in any industry however, new competition enters the market every so often and corporate buyers are faced with the choice of sticking to the tried and true or experimenting with new investments and solutions. The question is: which is better?
It is undeniable that there are many snafu’s surrounding the use of LED lights, especially in wall packs. Depending on the type of glass used, the situation discerning the lighting, an LED wall pack may or may not fit the bill. If constructed using clear or frosted non-prismatic lenses there really are no issues concerning lighting. It is only when the request for prismatic or borosilicate glass comes in to play that the consumer finds a deficiency in the life and production of light. Prismatic glass causes the LED light to have to refract itself at different angles against the surface. This causes an impediment in luminosity. Using clear or frosted glass eliminates this impediment.
Other cons to using these wall packs in place of say induction lighting sources include higher cost and larger quantity for effect, less luminairies output then other light sources, and LED wall packs or any light using this type of bulb are quite sensitive to changes in temperature-especially heat. Heat rises, this can lead problems with the lighting and a shortened lifespan of the pack when used in manufacturing and business settings that are exposed to prolonged high levels of heat.
While the above factors should play a role in the decision for the business, it doesn’t always outweigh the benefits. In most cases, LED lighting is a leader in the industry. It has a longer life expectancy of those that have come before it. It is brighter than the average bulb. It powers up after shutdown quicker and reaches its full potential of luminosity in a less amount of time. It experiences less color diminishment as it ages and has less of a variance in colors.
This means that a set of LED wall packs will look the same color when lighting an area which can provide a clearer field of vision as well as boost aesthetic value. For the most part an LED wall pack will give more light for a larger amount of time than any other light on the market. There will always be new innovations in any industry. Producers work to provide their consumers with the best possible product and this means coming up with new and better ways of doing things. However, if the old method has worked up until this point and it fits the needs of the one making the decision-there is no pressing reason to switch over to a new one. In the end it is entirely up to the consumer-what they need, maybe aren’t getting, and what they are looking to gain from their lighting source.
