Loading... Please wait...The lighting industry has recently undergone a complete overhaul regarding the types of lights to be used in commercial environments. In most states, incandescent lights and any other type utilizing mercury as a component are being taken off the market to be replaced with safer, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly lights.
These light new editions to the lighting industry are developed to be profitable for everyone involved. One such example would be the High Intensity discharge light. This light utilizes the components of an electric arc created between two tungsten electrodes. It also uses gas and metal salts. Because of the ‘plasma’ created by this arc, the luminosity emitted from such a bulb is greater than that of your average bulb all the while reducing its power consumption. There is a wide variety of HID lights out there, most commonly in the form of the wall pack used in commercial settings. Examples of such lights would be the mercury vapor lights, metal halide lights, ceramic metal halide lights, sodium vapor lights, and short arc lamps.
The HID wall pack is one of the more popular innovations to hit the market today because of its high light definition and intensity. Common places that utilize such lights are auditoriums, gymnasiums, sports arenas, warehouses, industrial parks, public areas and pretty much any environment/place that needs to generate a large amount of intense bright light over a large area. This can also include street lamps and automobile headlights (although these aren’t of the wall pack variety.) An HID wall pack can produce up to ten times that of an incandescent one.
Because of the luminosity produced by these lights and their efficiency in doing so, HID wall packs make for great security lights as well. When used in outside and public areas that see a lot of pedestrian traffic, it is mandatory that the paths around the area, park or building be well lit and clear. People need to see where they are going and the security personnel in the area need to see who is doing what, where and why. With HID wall packs installed around the area and grounds, this is not a problem at all. This is why this light is one of the most popular in these types of circumstances.
Most people who own businesses or commercial properties are being faced with the task of replacing their outdated lighting systems with new ones. These new ones need to meet industry standards for safety, efficiency and environmental friendliness. The plus is that, it will also cut some of the overhead cost for the business owner who could probably use it elsewhere. All in all, replacing outdated fixtures with new HID wall packs is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
