Compact Fluorescent Wall Packs

Working and durability

As each of them turns on quickly, following the throwing of a switch, the compact fluorescent wall packs can be counted on to send their beams over a large area, from a point that remains well-removed from the pedestrians or vehicles that must come and go within the same region. As indicated by the fixtures’ name, that point is somewhere on a vertical surface. Moreover, it is located about twelve to eighteen feet above the people and vehicles on the ground.

Power saving lights

The energy efficiency displayed by each pack makes it a number one choice among those men and women who need to reduce the cost of a commercial or industrial operation. Moreover, anyone who decides to order one of these comprehensive units can easily determine what the color of its light beams should be. That is important, because if a store is located in a setting where a fixture produces beams of an objectionable color, a retailer could find that he or she has fewer customers.

High CRI wallpack

Of course those charged with purchasing compact fluorescent wall packs must consider more than just the color preference of customers or employees. The rules and regulations issued by a local, state or federal government should also concern that lighting purchaser. In an area where lighting fixtures must comply with dark sky codes, a compact fluorescent wall pack often requires a full cutoff, in order to eliminate any hint of objectionable glare.
The soft white light emitted by a fluorescing bulb does not strain or hurt the eyes, while consuming much less power than a more traditional incandescent bulb. Consequently, it aids markedly the introduction of lots of light into what might be perceived as a relatively small space. In addition, the fixture surrounding one or more of those less traditional bulbs does not have to copy a standardized shape. In fact, it can have what is called a band, and that band can be almost any shape.

Installing and mounting CFL

While such banding around a lighting source permits utilization of such comprehensive units at any level along a vertical surface, the operators of commercial and public facilities welcome the opportunity to place them at a decidedly elevated spot. Thus, as their long-reaching beams beat down on the area below those fixtures, their wiring remains hidden from view. At the same time another possible feature might come into play.
That additional feature concerns a component that does not contribute to the production of visible light. That distinguishes it from the arcing lamp, the ballast and the phosphor coated tube, all of which help to transform a flow of electrons into the fuel for a lighting source. However, once produced, that source must needs the protection of a transparent medium. When that protection covers a fluorescing bulb then it can be a strong yet lightweight substance such as polycarbonate.

Outdoor commercial lights

The ability to put polycarbonate over a fluorescing bulb makes it far easier to raise that unit to the level normally associated with outdoor wall packs. However, in the past it failed to offer a solution to one other problem. That earlier problem stemmed from the fact that the older compact units with the fluorescing bulbs did not respond to a dimmer’s controls. That flaw has now vanished, thanks to introduction of the cold cathode. Consequently, any of the compact fluorescent fixtures on today’s market can be made to produce a less brilliant beam, when the occasion calls for the reduction of a particular beam’s brilliance.
